Apart from all the chocolate, wine or junk food you might
also have the strong desire for food which is decently fried
or even burnt.

Our last comparison of the recently found food-table
is the visual display of another interesting craving.

But what you actually need if you are longing for slightly BURNT FOOD
is

Carbon

and you will find satisfaction in the total opposite namely
A BUNCH OF FRESH FRUITS.

Crazy weekend?
We don't want to keep you from a decent CUP OF FRESH COFFEE but as we recently found out a little GARLIC would be also suggestive if you lust for the deep brown.
Because longing for coffee your body eventually screams for

Sulfur.

Happy Week!

WE OFTEN CRAVE FOR THINGS,
WE DON'T REALLY NEED.

Just in time for friday night
let me introduce you to our next favorite.

2.
If you are longing for ALCOHOL you better go for GRANNY'S VEGGIE SOUP.

Because what you really need is

Protein
Avenin
Calcium
Glutamine
Potassium

Maybe you remember next time
before you have to have the veggie soup as hangover remedy.

To kick off the lenting season we'd like to propose
some ideas to overcome this difficult period.
We found a medical food table which reveals that

WE DON'T ALWAYS NEED WHAT WE WANT.

While our body is sending us signals of longing for a certain thing,
it actually needs something completely different.

We picked our 4 favorites which we wanted to share with you.

1. If you lust for SWEETS try LIVER instead.

Because what you really need is
Tryptophan
Sulfur
Phosphorus
Carbon
Chromium

"I KNEW I BELONGED TO THE PUBLIC AND TO THE WORLD, NOT BECAUSE I WAS TALENTED OR EVEN BEAUTIFUL, BUT BECAUSE I HAD NEVER BELONGED TO ANYTHING OR ANYONE ELSE." (Marilyn Monroe)

Speaking of Burberry:

(Eddie Redmayne, frontrow at Burberry Prorsum Show FW2012/13)

Yesterday I had the opportunity to watch "My week with Marilyn".

The storyline:
Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) travels to London to shoot the movie "The Prince and the Showgirl" together with Laurence Oliver (Kenneth Branagh). The tensed interaction on set between "The star who wants to become an actress and the actor who wants to become a star" is explained by the unpaid intern Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) whose memoir forms the basis of the story...

"My week with Marilyn"

"The Prince and the Showgirl"

I must admit being a huge fan of Michelle Williams. Movies like "Wendy and Lucy" or "Blue Valentine" spring to my mind. I admire her way of completely filling a role with all her physical presence, her naturalness and authenticity. But as Miss Monroe she couldn't convince me for one second. The naive bombshell is the total opposite of Michelle Williams. Maybe taking that challenge was the main reason for her playing the role, but the discrepancy seems obviously invincible at this point. Her character seems overacted and forced and is neither comperable to Michelle's previous roles nor to Marilyns in a way authenticly weird and enchanting personality. In spite of all the lavish make-up and body parts she couldn't really melt with her role. To be honest, I was seriously annoyed by her play.

Nevertheless I am still a big admirer of Michelle Williams as well as of Marilyn Monroe. Therefore I just ordered her biography, which I wanted to read for years anyway.

After a little research I settled for "The Biography" (1993) written by Donald Spato,
it is claimed to be the best.

A little something for our graphic design geeks -
Marilyn Monroe's original letterhead from 1958:

If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.”

After my last Muppet Show session I still can't forget Debbie Harry in her orange jumpsuit. I am a jumpsuit addict but my jumpsuit collection is still lacking an orange one.

This wonderful black-velvet-one-piece from the upcoming Topshop Unique winter collection will probably have to classify my jumpsuit collection. Can't wait.

I AM ENOUGH!

Many times in life we look for the approval of others by measuring our worth by their accolades, comments or bravados but their comes a time we have to tell ourselves...I AM ENOUGH!

Recently, Whitney Elizabeth Houston was put to rest on Saturday, February 18th, 2012. Her homecoming ceremony was an impactful wake up call to the world. So many celebrities spoke of the Whitney the media did not know at all. The media glamorized her downfalls, flaws and mistakes to build a story for propaganda. Whitney Houston was beautiful, talented, smart, savvy, and sassy but still at the end of the day she questioned her worth. She still wondered was her gift, her God given talent good enough for the world. Million of women today have the same question run through their head.."Am I good enough?" Inspite of our accomplishments, successes, victories and overcoming moments many women still have a overwhelming insecurity of who they are inside. A woman's insecurity can mess with her self esteem, self worth, and self love which could cause her to lose faith in her ability to make a change in the world. So often we let society, the media, friends, and family dictate our worthiness. I believe Whitney Houston truly never tapped into her full potential or greatness because she did not realize her music changed lives. I have been guilty of feeling inadequate about my God given talented comparing myself to other people and wondering was I good enough to make it. However, I began to realize I was fearfully and wonderfully made by God and He never made a piece of junk. God's artwork is intricate and detailed where abstract pieces are added for embellishment. God is the greatest Picasso who divinely created every woman as a Mona Lisa. Ms. Houston was a beautiful Mona Lisa who had her own unique attributes that added to the body of Christ. It is true she died before her prime and still had so much life to live but her death was a reality check to love yourself. In her song "The Greatest Love Of All" it says "learning to love yourself is greatest love of all" and this statement is profound. It is important you learn to love yourself, embrace your flaws, your mistakes and realize that no matter what other people say about you, you are more than enough. God created us to add to His kingdom; many members of one body. We all have differrent skills and abilities but we are all important to the Body of Christ.

So the next time you wonder are you enough be reminded that God created you for a purpose and when you belong to him then your talent, skills and abilities are enough. So tell yourself, "I AM ENOUGH"!

For you... happy valentines

So it took me a couple of days before posting this. I'm afraid I didn't have the courage to press the PUBLISH POST button and have this as a constant reminder of what I lost. Nonetheless, happy valentines.

...

Another year given and done
I've come through, safe one more time
The days are warmer than I thought
It burns a pathway through the haze
of a thousand bird filled mornings
that would never reach your eyes

I am sitting alone tonight darling
Alone in the cold old room
and the sound of the rain
as it falls on the pane
makes darker its gathering gloom

The rain too is falling
on your picture as if washing
the dust of years and memories
that only my heart carries

caress me in my dreams
if only to soothe my awakening
Hold me in your arms as if you were beside me
cup your hands on my cheeks
and look deep into my eyes
so you could see once more
limitless and as pure as the cloudless sky
MY UNFATHOMABLE LOVE FOR YOU

I feel and see you in every tree and flower
in every drop of rain
maybe a soft breeze that wafts
gently touching my skin till I drift away

smoothe my hair with your hands
and wipe away my tears
tears of longing, regret and bereavement
I can't forget the long years
years of pain and life's crucible
but I'll always remember the minutes
minutes of tenderness and care
that soothed the agony of your absence

February Favorite: Forget the apple. Buy a beanie.

Seasons change, not always the way we prefer. That's a fact we needed to get used to, year after year. While actually every fashion store tries to lead us to believe in spring already knocking at out door, we are simply freezing, at least in berlin.

It seems to be the same dilemma every year. Like in the middle of summer, usually the time we go on  summer holidays, when we are desperately hoping to find at least one bikini which fits us more or less it's the same case with a simple, warm yet good-looking bonnet now. At least American Apparel understands to provide us with the right thing at the right time and offers simple, cosy beanies in a huge range of colours all year round. Find your favorite one online or in an AA-Store located in your city.

Side note for your shopping trip: Don't forget to take your favorite bikini right away!

Custom

Custom will reconcile people to any atrocity. ~George Bernard Shaw

"IF I HAD A WORLD OF MY OWN, EVERYTHING WOULD BE NONSENSE. NOTHING WOULD BE WHAT IT IS BECAUSE EVERYTHING WOULD BE WHAT IT ISN'T. AND CONTRARY-WISE; WHAT IT IS IT WOULDN'T BE, AND WHAT IT WOULDN'T BE, IT WOULD. YOU SEE?" (Alice in Wonderland)

For our recent WRONG ISSUE, we got the opportunity to shoot Anna Cleveland, daughter of the iconic Pat Cleveland. Pat was one of the first black supermodels, muse of Yves Saint Laurent and Halston and a mainstay of the Studio 54-scene.
With Anna we recognized pretty early that this apple also didn't fall far from the trunk. So it wasn't really difficult to fill this tiny room with her personality. With her rousing temperament we couldn't do anything else than having a good, a hilarious time.

Thanks to the great set designer Stefan Beckman who built this little chamber exclusively for us.

Valentine's Day For The Single Sassy Sista....

I am a true romantic for love and I love any movie that shows the beauty of love in its most intimate stages. However,  sometimes it can be challenging when holidays like Valentine's Day only focus on couples for this symbol of love. I believe this holiday is to be enjoyed by single people as well. I am a very happily single woman embracing life, enjoying the moment and loving life to the fullest. I am focused on loving myself, creating a life for me and my daughter, and most of all experiencing what life has to offer me. Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays because it gives me a chance to celebrate myself, spoil myself and love every aspect about who I am created to be. I also love this holiday because I always buy my daughter a Valentine's Day gift. I have been doing this for her and her deceased sister since they were babies. I use to hate Valentine's Day and wanted that special man to buy me flowers or take me out to dinner. However, I decided that I have to learn how to love myself first. Valentine's Day is not another sad love song for me but it is a day where I give back to myself 100%. Valentine's Day does not have to be the worst holiday for the single sassy sista. We can spend this Valentine's Day enjoying some great time with our self and spending money on what we want to do for us. It is not the end of the world if you are single on Valentine's Day. It is important to reflect, embrace and enjoy where you are at in your life. It should be pure joy to be a single sassy sista who wants to take her world to a whole new level. We have to understand that having a man does not define our happiness but when we do get a man he increases our happiness. So many women operate in a needy or desparate mode which causes them to  feel like they cannot be happy without having a man in their life. However, if you do not love yourself then that man will not be able to love you. It can be challenging to be the only person in your circle single but your turn will come for love. Until then enjoy your Valentine's Day...

I challenge all single sassy sistas like myself to have fun, enjoy life and not focus on the negative aspects of being single on Valentine's Day. When you are content and happy with yourself then that gorgeous, handsome specimen of a man will notice the spark or twinkle in your eye. He will be so curious to want to know what makes you smile and strut with confidence the way you do. He may ask you "What makes you smile the way you do with the twinkle in your eye?" and you respond by saying, "Life, I am simply living my life to the fullest and enjoying every moment". Then my single sassy sistas he will want to take you out on a date and get to know you alot more. There is always something special about a woman who is confident about being happily single. She finds peace and joy in knowing her steps are strategically ordered by God. She has no desire to curse love but embrace it....Single Sassy Sista enjoy your Valentine's Day because you might not be single next year.

Embrace your single hood and have the time of your life!!!
